Syllabus
Committees are advisory committees to the Curriculum Council which have
the following responsibilities:
to recommend on the review and revision of existing subjects or the
development of new subjects
to advise on the resource implications of implementing new and/or revised
subjects
to advise on other subject-specific issues
to
maintain and review syllabuses for publication in syllabus manuals
to ensure consistency between curriculum objectives and content, and
assessment; or between outcomes, common assessment tasks and performance
criteria
to provide advice to examining panels on the structure of Tertiary Entrance
Examinations where appropriate
to provide an annual report on the adequacy of their subjects and assessment
procedures
to report on the appropriateness of the Tertiary Entrance Examination
in terms of course coverage and emphasis.
Membership
The membership
of Syllabus Committees comprises representatives from the secondary and
post-secondary educational sectors in Western Australia as well as industry
or community groups with expertise in the field. The Curriculum Council
Officer (Accreditation and Moderation) for the subject attends meetings
as the nonvoting Executive Officer.
