community reference groupThe Community Reference Group was created to represent the views of various groups in the community. Membership of the Community Reference Group
Introduction The Community Reference Group explored future possibilities for post-compulsory education in Western Australia. Participants were invited to express their views about substantial and minimal changes that could be introduced through the Review and which would result in shifts in practice in school and post-school systems in order to accommodate the needs of all students. The exploration of these changes also led to discussion that considered the impact these changes would have on present infrastructures, teaching methodology and learning styles of students. The ideas expressed by the individuals and groups linked very closely to the principles that underpin the Curriculum Framework. The general view of the meeting signalled the shortcomings of present structures in serving the needs of the majority of students. The groups indicated that current post-compulsory educational programs do not adequately prepare students who face a future that holds less certainty for them economically and socially. |
