All about VET

VET stands for Vocational Education and Training.

Opportunities to do VET, such as School Apprenticeship link Program and School Based Traineeships will continue. With a shortage of trade skills and the increase in the school leaving age, VET is more relevant than ever.

There are three ways of doing VET in the new WACE

VET industry specific courses are courses where a whole training qualification is delivered and assessed according to industry-specific standards with additional required workplace learning and an optional examination. Achievement of these qualifications will count towards the WACE as Council developed units.

VET integrated in courses involves students undertaking one or more VET units of competency concurrently with a course.

VET credit transfer  is where students are enrolled in a national training package qualification/units of competency that are not part of a course. Achievement of these qualifications will count towards WACE completion as council endorsed units.

VET Information for all schools provides information about the Council's VET database.

VETinfoNet  http://www.vetinfonet.det.wa.edu.au/home/ provides information about all aspects of Vocational Education and Training in Western Australia.
