Curriculum Council English Language Competence Test

Eligibility of students to sit the test

Any student undertaking a Year 12 English subject who has not yet achieved English language competence and is unlikely to obtain a C grade or better may sit the English Language Competence Test. A pass in the Curriculum Council English Language Competence Test satisfies the requirements for:
  • a Western Australian Certificate of Education.
  • entrance to TAFE.
A pass in the Curriculum Council English Language Competence Test does not satisfy the competence in English requirement for entrance to university.

Test administration

The English Language Competence Test can be administered at each school. The test is scheduled for 9.00 a.m. on Wednesday 31 October 2007 and is two hours and ten minutes in length. Students who may be absent on the day of the test or who fail to attend at the correct time through no fault of their own should notify the test coordinator at their school.
