Examinations

There is a WACE examination for each course.

A Tertiary Entrance Rank (TER) is calculated using the school assessment and WACE examination results combined.

TAFE selection is based on a range of criteria, including a student’s achievement standards.

Examinations in 2008

2008 examinations in WACE courses Applied Information Technology, Aviation, Earth and Environmental Science, Engineering Studies, English, English as a Second Language/Dialect, Media Production and Analysis and Physical Education Studies cover the unit combinations within stages 2 and 3 and are primarily for university entrance.

There is no exam in 2008 for those students who are studying 1A and/or 1B units. However, students who study 1A and/or 1B units may sit these examinations as a private candidate. Examinations in 2009

Mandatory examinations, for the achievement of the WACE will be introduced in 2009, with two examinations for each course, one each for stage 2 and stage 3 units, and exclusions will be determined after further consultation.

Students will study pairs of units within a single stage (eg: 2A/2B or 3A/3B) from 2009.
