Online Learning and Support

The Curriculum Council has developed an extranet to support teachers implementing WACE courses.  This contains a professional development (PD) program with online learning modules and a range of support materials.

The extranet provides a secure environment that enables a range of users to access and share resources and information.

Users may access the extranet for different reasons:

  • to access support materials—locate a range of support materials and other useful resources (previously available on the Council website)
  • to gain general access—find information and resources and engage in online collaborative discussion and sharing with colleagues around the State through discussion boards
  • to gain accreditation—participate in a program of modules for  PD credit and recognition.

Online Learning

The Curriculum Council has developed an online PD program for WACE courses, endorsed programs and integrated programming. The online PD program is user-driven and self-paced, and has been developed for teachers and educators who:

  • may be new to the course or state
  • have not had the opportunity to participate in other Curriculum Council PD
  • would like to reinforce knowledge and understandings gained in prior PD.

As well as learning about specific aspects of courses and programs, the online PD program includes access to a range of web resources, discussion forums and an electronic journal.

For further information or clarification email pdenquiry@curriculum.wa.edu.au .

Online Support

Curriculum and technical support is available through the Council’s extranet. Support materials previously available on the Council’s open access website are now contained within this secure environment. Registered users can access a range of materials including teaching programs, assessment outlines and assessment tasks. Additionally, learning modules are linked to discussion forums that are moderated by Council staff. Depending on registration type, users may post specific questions on discussion forums or simply observe discussion threads.

Registered teachers can gain access to the extranet by providing their WACOT number. Access may also be granted to users without a WACOT number including university staff members, final year university students and teachers of a WACE course in an international context.

Users experiencing difficulty with online registration should email LMShelp@curriculum.wa.edu.au
